Bill in MT Would Amend State Constitution to Include Trapping

MONTANA:

From Trap Free Montana Public Lands: Take Action!

Montana House Bill 212 “Reaffirms that trapping is a form of hunting protected under the Montana constitution.” http://leg.mt.gov/bills/2015/billpdf/HB0212.pdf

[mk_blockquote style=”quote-style” font_family=”none” text_size=”12″ align=”left”]C-41 Constitutional Amendment which was enacted by a vote of Montanans read: “Recognizing and Preserving the Heritage of Montana Citizens’ Opportunity to harvest wild fish and wild game animals.” Since it is not legal to trap wild game animals, i.e. elk, deer, moose, pronghorn, etc., HB 212 wants to change terms and definitions within the constitution to encompass the right to trap. Trapping violates principles of ethical hunting, i.e. know your target, fair chase, quick clean kill and commercializes our wildlife violating the North American Wildlife Conservation Model which is Montana’s basis for wildlife management.[/mk_blockquote]
