Effort to Extend Vermont Bobcat Season Rejected

GOOD NEWS, VERMONT – An effort to extend Vermont’s bobcat hunting season appears to be off the table for now. Due to pressure from opponents of extending the season, the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board decided to take a conservative approach to bobcat management and listen to science and the data, instead of pressure from trappers who have no scientific basis for extending the trapping season for bobcats.

However, six members of the Fish & Wildlife Board (commission) still want to come back with proposals to try a 3-year trial on expanding the bobcat season. It’s not over unfortunately.
