Pennsylvania Hunters Come to Rescue of Deer Trapped in Snare

Game animals are protected from trapping in Wyoming. This deer was snared illegally.

Snares are simple, inexpensive cable devices that typically are suspended along a trail known to be used by the target animal. Wyoming regulations require the device to have a breakaway component that will break and release when 295 pounds of pressure is applied. The intent is to allow game such as deer or elk to escape the snare.

Traps are indiscriminate, and no wildlife is immune to these steel contraptions.

***Wyoming Prohibited Acts: It is illegal to:
Intentionally tamper with or remove a trap or snare; or, release or remove a furbearer or predator from a trap or snare set and maintained in compliance with Wyoming statutes and Commission regulations.
