Trapping May be Banned in Santa Fe, NM

Full Article at Albuquerque Journal

“Trapping animals on Santa Fe city property and using trapping devices likely to “injure, maim or kill any domestic or wild animal” anywhere within the city limits may soon become illegal.

Legislation to make that change was unanimously approved by the Finance Committee on Monday and is set to come before the “City Council next Wednesday to set a date for a public hearing.”

The amendment to the city’s animal services ordinance was introduced by District 1 City Councilor Signe Lindell, who said she decided to do so after hearing that the Los Alamos County Council had passed similar legislation in September.

“It seemed like a no-brainer to follow suit,” she said during a phone interview this week.
