Description: WU was contacted on Jan 3 by Cory Morgart about a trapping incident involving his dog “Rex” near the Uinta County, WY Woodruff Narrows Reservoir. Rex was caught in a Duke Trap (Duke is ironically the name of his other dog that did not get trapped). Rex caught two toes on the left front paw. Nothing appeared to be broken. The trap jaw caused skin abrasion and bleeding while Rex attempted to escape before the trap was released. It’s unknown if there were more traps in the area. Cory left the area immediately after the incident. The road in an area covered with snow was recently heavily traveled by trucks.

Cory’s Story: “We never really even thought about it being an issue. We were prepared for rattlesnakes, wildlife and maybe hunters as threats to the dogs but not this. Unknown if there were more traps, we left the area immediately after the incident but the road was heavily and recently traveled by trucks and in this area with this much snow I would assume that would be the only reason to drive in the area.
