A Ban is a Ban, so Let’s Get It Done for the Bobcats
A ban is a ban, so let’s get it done for the bobcats – The Gilroy Dispatch: Our View (Editorials)
LIFE OR DEATH After passing a ban Aug. 5 on the long-practiced trapping of bobcats for their fur, the state fish and game commission is now faced with a decision about when to impose the ban. The trapping season starts in November and runs through January. The state fish and wildlife department says there are steps that must be taken before the ban can go into effect, so it wants the ban to start next November. Outraged animal welfare groups that expected the ban to go into effect this year say if it does not, then upwards of 1,200 bobcats will be killed for their fur. They want the ban to start now.
