Wolf Hollow Rescues Eagle, Removes Trap
Staff from Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center on San Juan Island caught an eagle and successfully removed a steel leg hold trap from its talon. The eagle was sighted during the weekend by Kimbal Sundberg who was conducting a COAST beach survey at False Bay during low tide.
Another sighting Tuesday afternoon, May 10, 2016 led to the successful capture. According to Wolf Hollow, the eagle is a bit thin, and will need to have the tip of the toe amputated where the trap was, but it is still VERY feisty, and in relatively good shape. If you were lugging around just under a quarter of your body weight, you’d be tired too.
Wolf Hollow thanks everyone for their calls and for keeping their eyes peeled for this eagle. Wolf Hollow FB page
