Dog barely escaped snare incident, Vedauwoo, Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, WY
Until I became a member of this group, I never knew that traps and snares were set in area we traverse all the time. Tonight we came across a series of snares about 20 yards off of Road 701E. On top of everything else I carry in winter months, I now plan on packing a "trap defense" tool kit as well. What a shame it is I have to worry about me or my dog being snared on public land... -

Game & Fish advances power-trap ban, select trail setbacks
Several commenters said trapping is wrongly characterized as a management tool because Game and Fish does not require enough reporting and collect enough data to make the pursuit a science-based program. -

Trapping Reform Action – WGF Commission Taking Action on WGF Recommendations
The WGF Commission will discuss the final trapping reform recommendations at the Commission meeting in Buffalo, or on ZOOM, Tuesday, Nov 17, 2020. They will vote to accept the regulations, or not, and the direction ahead. -

"Reporting is key to data; data is key to management; and management is key to the future of Wyoming’s wildlife. Management all the way around is lacking in the “sport” of trapping. Isn’t it time the Wyoming Game and Fish Department leveled the playing field?"
