Surely there is room for some common sense approach instead of just ignoring the issue and railing about dogs as a way to avoid the discussion. Surely there is a better way forward. -

A dog, a basset hound mix, was caught in a snare by his front feet, in Vedauwoo Recreation Area, near Laramie, Wyoming. This is the third trapping incident in Vedauwoo during this winter season. Until we can separate traps and trails, please stay vigilant. -

Until I became a member of this group, I never knew that traps and snares were set in area we traverse all the time. Tonight we came across a series of snares about 20 yards off of Road 701E. On top of everything else I carry in winter months, I now plan on packing a "trap defense" tool kit as well. What a shame it is I have to worry about me or my dog being snared on public land... -

The modest reforms proffered by Wyoming Game and Fish Department biologists, subsequently improved by a majority of the Wyoming Game and Fish commissioners, come before the legislature’s Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee on Dec. 8. If your family likes to walk with dogs in places like Vedauwoo, and you prefer to enjoy the vista rather than scan for snares, now might be a good time to speak up.
